Data Tracking Policy

Locke Digital Media (LDM) is committed to respecting online privacy. We’re also committed to delivering the best user experience possibly in our network of apps and websites (collectively known as “LDM Sites”). To do so, LDM may need to gather certain information about our Users (that’s you!). Please read our online tracking and Ads policy, found below, so you can better understand how your information will be treated when using LDM Sites.

1. What information do we collect?

When you visit any LDM Site, we gather some basic bits of info, but this information will not identify Users individually. Information collected may include; which pages Users visit, which ads are viewed or clicked by Users, and any feedback left by Users. LDM then aggregates this data with other data to improve our Sites and make the User experience  more enjoyable, valuable, and efficient. For clarity’s sake, unless Users submit personal data directly to LDM or LDM Sites (for example, via site registration, or in relation to a contest, etc.), LDM Sites will not collect any personally identifiable information. Additional information on how LDM treats personally identifiable information submitted directly to us, and how said information may be handled or shared can be found in our official privacy policy.

2. Behavioral advertising

LDM analyzes non-personal data collected/obtained via Third Parties, and organizes it into anonymous User-profiles, User-groups, and readers/viewers/audiences, based on factors like; age, sex/gender, location/geography, interests, and online activity. LDM and our clients/partners then utilize these anonymous data groupings to create and provide customized ad campaigns and/or additional relevant media/content. LDM and our clients also use this information for other related purposes (for example, for online advertising research campaigns, or to find a better understanding of the interests or activities of our Users.) The behavior categories used by LDM  for ad customization or for related issues doesn’t use any personal data, such as name,  specific location, address, e-mail, telephone number, birthday, or social security info. LDM technology and services are designed to limit the use of consumer information to anonymous, non-personal data.

When you visit a LDM Site, and view advertisements from LDM advertisers, LDM automatically receives and stores certain types of non-personal data. This includes; IP addresses, website pages viewed, the date and time a User visited, and how they responded to advertisements on the site. While all advertising method uses different types of technology to collect information, such as; log files, cookies, and pixels, none can be tracked to a specific individual’s personally identifiable data, and the non-personally identifiable data collected by LDM will not be shared with any Third Party, except the ones expressly indicated in either this notice or our official Privacy Policy. The non-personally identifiable data that is collected by LDM Sites is used to deliver relevant/targeted advertising and to improve LDM’s ad technology; monitor LDM Site website traffic; collect statistical info; determine the efficacy of advertisements, media, and other content; and collect information across multiple LDM Sites to categorize likely Customer interest areas to use in online advertising. LDM may track visits to the LDM Sites and this info may be used to help predict consumer interest and choose ad content Users see. Defy may also use non-personally identifiable profile-based data with other non-personally identifiable data. LDM does not create nor use sensitive data segments such as health-related data, to deliver targeted online advertising for its brands or brand advertisers.

3. Transparency in online advertising

LDM does not create nor use potentially sensitive data to deliver targeted online advertising for brands or advertisers. This includes, but is not limited to; health-related audience data. LDM is not affiliated with, but still adheres to the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) Code of Conduct, which may be found here, as well as the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising, which may be found here.

4. Opt-out

Users may choose to not participate in a personalized advertising service by “opting out” via the contact form found at the bottom of this page. Note: Opting out won’t remove our online advertisements. Users will still see ads provided by LDM, but these ads won’t be customized or targeted. Users need to update their opt-out preferences if they change or update the browser they use or their computer, or if they delete their cookies.

5. Data retention

LDM and our partners/affiliates/clients may retain anonymous user info collected for up to twelve (12) months from the date it is collected. After this time, all data will be deleted from our active databases. We also maintain an archive of web logs, database, and other information. Note; it’s possible some of this data may inadvertently remain archived after LDM has deleted some of the data from our active database. We maintain certain records for disaster-recovery, for legal purposes, and other non-marketing purposes as allowed by law.

6. Who do we share data with?

LDM doesn’t sell, rent out, or barter any personally identifying data with Third Parties, unless Users explicitly opted-in and consented to it. LDM may share aggregate user data in a non-identifiable manner with advertisers and other Third Parties, in order to deliver more targeted ads, products, and/or Services.

7. Explaining “cookies,” “web beacons,” and how each is used.

LDM Sites may use “cookies” and “web beacons” to decrease navigation times, track items viewed, clicked and/or shared (such as links and ads), and deliver custom-made Services.

  • A Web Beacon is; a GIF file that is embedded in the site that helps us track whether Users have viewed specific content.
  • Cookies are used to remember information given to LDM Sites by Users to so Users won’t need to re-enter their info each time they visit a LDM Site.

Cookies and Web Beacons allow site owners to see which areas, media, and content are the most popular. They also help to target certain content and ads based on the behavior of Users.

Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your browser to not accept cookies. Note; You won’t be able to use all LDM Services if the cookies option is turned off.
